New England Waterfalls

Introduction TO THE WEBSITE

My passion for New England waterfalls developed at a very young age. I was initially dragged kicking and screaming on day-long journeys through New England by my family. Travels during high school finally opened my mind to the wonders and attractions of the natural world.

In college, I began to take day trips all over New England, visiting a variety of places and, most importantly, a number of waterfalls. Day trips turned out to become regular weekly activities. It was not long before I realized that many of New England’s waterfalls were known only to local residents. As miles and miles of driving and hiking were racked up, I wondered why so many of these wonderful places could not be found in existing guidebooks.

And so the idea for the New England Waterfalls website and book was born. My main focus, I decided, was to share all these great places with readers in a way that minimized the amount of hassle a day trip can bring. Directions were written based on easily identifiable reference points, described trails in an easy-to-follow format, and pictures were snapped that represented the actual beauty of these places. Detailed classifications were also developed for each waterfall, including an overall rating—intended to give you a sense of comparison—and information pertaining to the trail, such as the difficulty and altitude gain.

There you have it: New England Waterfalls and newenglandwaterfalls.com is my contribution to the natural splendors of this region. Enjoy the guidebook and this ever-expanding website.
