THE FALLS:

Within Campbell Falls State Park, the Whitney River drops 50 feet in a magnificent thundering display at Campbell Falls. The river falls through a tight gorge where the direction of the water flow changes twice, first to the left, then to the right. This zigzagging waterfall, as it can best be described, has a rugged form not often found in New England waterfalls. Its power in early spring is a thunderous surprise, considering the gentle terrain of the trail and the surrounding forest. Make sure to pack all of your photographic equipment when hiking to this waterfall. The falls have both an upper and lower section, which can be easily framed into one photograph. There is plenty of opportunity to view Campbell Falls because it is open to the public year round from dawn to dusk.

TRAIL INFORMATION:

From the parking area, follow the white-square marked trail down on easy terrain for about 0.2 mile and the falls will be unveiled.
