THE FALLS:
Situated only a few miles away from the Canadian border, Heald Stream Falls likely receives only a handful of visitors a month. Most day-trippers are either reluctant to go to this waterfall because of its remoteness, or simply because they do not know of its existence. If privacy is what you seek, this waterfall should provide you with exactly that.
There are several steps created by the ledges at the waterfall, and each step is visible from the base of the waterfall. The total drop is small, at only 18 feet. There are several dark, private pools for wading or swimming. It should be noted that the odds of encountering an animal along the drive to the trailhead or the hike in to the falls is higher than normal here, as this site is in prime moose habitat.
TRAIL INFORMATION:
The falls begin their descent beneath the bridge you just crossed. You have two options. You can either conclude your visit from the bridge or travel down several barely-used paths on either side of the brook to explore the entire area. Expect privacy at this waterfall, especially if you bushwhack to the base of the falls.
