THE FALLS:
The waters of Sanderson Brook travel down a 60-foot face of rock wall, called Sanderson Brook Falls. Plunges adorn the top of the wall, followed by cascades of different structures. The force of the plunge smashes into a flat obstructing rock, causing the water to shoot upward before landing into the cascades below. At the base of the falls are pools, small cascades, and plenty of picnic-approved ledges. The shallow pools are child-safe. Although they may be slightly chilly, children will love splashing around in them on a hot day. There are also large boulders scattered everywhere to climb on, which also provide opportunities for exploration.
TRAIL INFORMATION:
The trail to the falls follows a wide dirt road (Sanderson Brook Road), maintained by the Chester-Blandford State Forest. There is minimal elevation gain, and the road is well-marked with blue triangles. At mile 0.9, take a right off the road and follow the trail the rest of the way down to the brook, where the scale of the falls will surely surprise you.
